At SQLFormat.io, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

SQLFormat.io is a 100% client-side tool. All SQL formatting, minifying, validating, and other processing happens entirely in your browser. We never send your SQL queries, code, or any input data to any server. Your data stays on your device at all times.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data such as:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• Browser type, device type, and operating system
• Approximate geographic location (country/city level only)
• Referral source (how you found our site)

This data is anonymized and aggregated. We do not collect or store any personally identifiable information (PII) through Google Analytics. You can learn more about Google's data practices at Google's Privacy & Terms site.

2.2 Google AdSense

We may display advertisements through Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies and web beacons to serve relevant ads based on your browsing history. Specifically:

• DoubleClick cookie — Used by Google to serve interest-based ads
• Ad personalization allows Google to show ads tailored to your interests
• Non-personalized ads may be shown in some regions (EEA, UK, California)

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

2.3 Local Storage

Our tools may use your browser's localStorage to save:

• Format history (last 5 queries) — for your convenience only
• UI preferences (e.g., selected SQL dialect, indent size)

This data never leaves your browser and can be cleared at any time via your browser settings.

Our site uses the following types of cookies:

• Essential cookies — Required for the site to function properly (e.g., Cloudflare security cookies)
• Analytics cookies — Used by Google Analytics to understand site usage
• Advertising cookies — Used by Google AdSense to serve personalized ads (when enabled)

You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Please note that blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to third parties. The only data sharing that occurs is through the third-party services listed in Section 4, which have their own privacy policies governing data handling.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

• Right to access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Right to erasure — Request deletion of your data
• Right to restrict processing — Limit how we use your data
• Right to data portability — Receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to object — Object to processing for direct marketing or legitimate interests

6.2 CCPA (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

• Right to know — Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect
• Right to delete — Request deletion of personal information we have collected
• Right to opt-out — Opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
• Right to non-discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights

7. Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 26 months by default. Ad impression data may be retained for longer periods in aggregated form for reporting purposes. LocalStorage data persists until you clear your browser's local storage.
